A gang of us stayed on a hen weekend recently. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. The bar was homely and clean
Food was gorgeous and the staff were very obliging. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a cocktail class with Michael on sat night and he got everyone involved and the drinks were yummy. Dinner was a choice of chicken or steak and everyone was happy with it.
Overall the place delivered. It was in the centre of town near all the amenities. A lovely friendly place and I would highly recommend it.
Thanks especially to Michael Donal and Kevin for making the weekend for us. We will be back.

We stayed here last Saturday night 22\03. My 5th stay, Mostly stags and nights away with friends. Excellent spot, Superb location. Gerry & Josephne will look after you very well indeed. New addition of steak on the stone an absolute winner.

All the matches live, Lovely fresh pints, what more do you want. Thumbs up.

Where do I start , this place is fantastic . So friendly , great pub , great rooms , great staff and great atmosphere. I recently had my hen party stay here and we all loved it. The owner Gerry was the nicest man ever ! . The rooms were great you could fit from 2 people up to 5 in one room . Beds so comfy and bathroom spotless. For my hen they had organised for me a meal and cocktail class in our own private room , Donal the cocktail man was great fun so professional and the cocktails were so tasty.
Anything I wanted the staff were on to it with no problems what so ever. We had breakfast next morning full Irish included in our price of stay which was so good after our night out.
Me and the 16 other women could not fault the place whatsoever , we had the best stay and will be defiantly recommending this place and when I book my stay in Kilkenny again with no hesitation I will be ringing Rafter Dempseys to book my stay.
Thank you guys

This little gem is hidden away down a side street,so its peaceful & quite,on arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff, the room was big with 2 single beds & 1 double bed,the bath room was tiny & could do with a lick of paint but it done the job,,after a night on the beer we awoke to a beautiful big irish breakfast, for 40euro for the night it was worth every penny...

My wife and I were looking for the perfect day's drive from Dublin to take our two young ladies for an authentic neighborhood over-the-pub experience and found it at the Rafter Dempsey in Kilkenny for a one-night stay. Our hosts were attentive to all our needs. We were first directed to a parking garage run by his friend around the corner and it was hassle free. We were then shown our two rooms upstairs which were modest but very clean. The shower ran strong and hot. We were then treated to a table next to the wood-burning fireplace that our host took time to clean up fresh and light up, just for us. The Guinness was the perfect pint and the steak on brick just to our liking. Breakfast next morning was ideal. Our whole family loved our "day in the life" with the locals who came in regular for their pints, and only regret we missed the live music our particular night. Strong marks for the Rafter Dempsey!

Clean room, good food, and friendly people! We really enjoyed the authentic atmosphere, and felt very welcomed. Would highly recommend to all travelers. This is a great place, and although we arrived too late for dinner, the owner and staff gave us excellent recommendations within a short walk. We were highly satisfied with all aspects of our stay. This is a good value, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay...."..................................."......................................!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kilkenny was one of my favorite stops on our 10 day journey around Ireland and The Rafter Dempseys contributed to our experience! We only stayed one night but it was great! We wondered in last minute and were immediately given a room. Breakfast was personal and delicious and location was perfect! Right in the middle of the AMAZING village. Everyone was friendly and attentive, couldnt have asked for more!

We stayed in rafter dempseys for two nights In June . There was four of us staying in one room, the room was spacious and clean. It's very near the centre of Kilkenny, about a two/three minute walk. The staff are excellent , we had great fun in the pub on the Saturday night there was a good band playing and a great atmosphere. The two bar men are a credit to the bar . The manager we were dealing with was also a lovely man and if I was to go back to Kilkenny I would definitely stay here again.

"what a little gem!"

firstly i stayed in rafter dempsey's accomadation a couple of years ago, & what a service,
the breakfast was to die for, a wholesome meal to set anyone up for the entire day, perhaps, that was just me, a lightweight with a small appetite, but the menus are really very versatile, to suit everyone's taste.

they have very good entertainment here, with local & very well reviewed bands here each weekend, for all events, hens, stags, a weekend break etc, you are truly going to enjoy rafter dempseys and kilkenny city!

there is so much to see, including kilkenny castle, & the various number of attractions in kilkenny city, too many to list here, each weekend you are sure to find something of interest here!
rafter dempseys is very central and really worth a visit, if only for a hearty meal, friendly service, great atmosphere & good entertainment, you wont be sorry you stopped by!

Three of us stayed at "The Rafter Dempsey's" during the "Kilkenny Roots Music Fest" and we couldn't have made a better choice for the price. Upon our arrival the staff made us very welcome and the craic started from there. The 3 bed room(2 singles & 1 double) was spacious, clean and had everything you would need for a short break. It had an iron & ironing board, plenty of coat hangers & hair dryer, although because this was 3 blokes on the razz, these were not put to good use. The en suite bathroom was clean and the shower was good with plenty of hot water & clean towels. The location of "Rafters" is perfect for the local sights & bars & it's also just around the corner from the Patrick Street bus stop. The rooms are secure from the pub and access at night is by way of ringing the doorbell and being allowed in by the porter. The Irish breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the day. The pub Landlord is a real gent and very knowledgeable about the area, he even cooked us breakfast early on our last day as we had to make an early start. So unless you was born with a silver spoon in your mouth, I don't think there's any need for hesitation when looking for somewhere to stay in Kilkenny. Choose "The Rafter Dempsey's".

Delightful guesthouse! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, The location was the best in town, in the centre with all the shops and pubs in walking distance! The room was cosy and kept to a high standard! Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Great pub

We walked past this place on our way into the city for dinner. Staff very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Not as touristy as the other pubs in the city so we liked that. Had a nice chat with the manager / owner. We liked it so much we stopped off again for one on our way home- there was a great band playing too. What else do you want- great pub so make sure you stop by for one if passing.

The Heart of Kilkenny

Very nice atmosphere filled with good Irish traditions, located in the old town center so you are within walking distance to all the city’s sites and night life. City parking garage right around the corner was a big plus also. And I can’t leave out the nice people you might run across in the pub, along with the owner Gerry who will explain Irish football if you ask nicely. Gerry also serves up a great breakfast as well as a good pint. This is a B&B I will be staying at every time I visit Ireland.

Thanks for the great hospitality.
